Nice article on antler hunting

Something else to look for when out in the outdoors. And maybe make a bit money too.

Reality Show Update

Progress has slowed but not stopped. We aren't filming right now, but I am working on a trailer. Most of the trailer is done except a few alterations. Also some exciting news is Apple Creek is going to be doing the music for the show and the trailer. I am very excited about this and the project in general. Thank you Johnsons! I will have more updates as we make progress. Also keep checking I am planning a contest......

Morel Mushroom Research Project

Blonde Morel

This Spring I will start a 5 -10 year study on Morels. Many have questions as I do. Questions such as why do they grow in disturbed areas?  Does it make a difference what time of the year {spring, summer, fall} the ground is disturbed?  How does the weather affect the spawn of the mushrooms? As well as other questions.
I will be documenting my research in full detail along with pictures. If you have other questions please leave them on the blog and I will write them down in my journal and add them to the research project. At the end of this I plan to publish my findings for people like me who want to know more about these mushrooms.

This Mantle posed for me near Mt. St. Helens.

Tracks

This is a Bobcat track. It stepped into a Cougar track. This Bobcat track is about the size of a house cat. The Cougar track even though it has melted some it is a good size cat. It is also going in the opposite direction of the Bobcat.

Coyote tracks.

These are very fresh coyote tracks. You can tell by the way the track melted. They are well formed and haven't melted. He left a perfect mold.
The three marks? He must have pushed the snow with his nose. Perhaps he was sniffing for a snack.

Who's Tracks?

These are easy to identify. Most of the time you can even see the squirrel near by. He will probably chirp at you. Also nearby you can find a stump or even a downed log and it will have pine cone pieces all over it. Of course this is their feeding area. They eat pine nuts.
Black squirrel tracks.
